I am, I am, I am

A short list of things that I love: my son, the dude I am married to, books, summer dresses, shiny hair, banjo music, my sisters, feminism, Sylvia Plath, dusty record stores, yoga, rainy summer evenings, coming of age movies, Frida Kahlo, history, forest animals, Wes Anderson, nostalgia, being pretentious as fuck

I wanted to thank you for your blog. I’ve followed a path from being in my early twenties and barely calling myself a feminist until now, where I’m trying to read everything I can about the white privilege I carry into my feminism. I stumbled about your blog through a post about Tuohy and really appreciate the well written feminist articles about intersectionality as well. I’ve been wrong and accidentally hurtful so many times and when I am I try to come back and read something to remind myself to keep changing. So thank you.

I held my breath the whole time i read this piece. I felt every moment of fear or concern. I needed to read this today to give me motivation to keep writing, to keep fighting. It’s a bleak world sometimes when trying to create change but if I can prevent any other woman from having one second like this it will be worth it.

You’re strong and amazing! These experiences are so sadly universal. Men are taught and later teach horrible things and interactional styles. With powerful voices, like yours, hopefully enough hearts and minds will be touched and the mistreatment that you and so many others experience will be a thing of the past. Thanks for sharing your stories and voice.

Brilliant piece… cried my eyes out a bit. Reading things! Ahhhhhhhhhh! When I think of my own life experience with men I feel sick.

You are the 💩! I love your blog. A million thanks to you for “staying woke” with no incentive other than the perpetuation of pure conciousness.

Sometime around April 2013 you posted an piece of writing entitled ‘How we teach our sons to rape’. I read it and it stuck with me. I would like to read it again but it’s been taken down. Is it available anywhere else?
